Sustainability

How Szade does it?
The brand saves tonnes of over run, out of use, faulty and wasted frames in China that were destined for landfill. Szade optimises for the most carbon conservative strategy by collecting these sunglasses close to the source and taking them to their facility where they enter the brand's unique recycling process. The frames are broken down and processed into their raw materials and are then ready to become a pair of szades.

Why plastic?
Plastic is the problem in the eyewear industry. Period. Not acetate, not metal frames, not wood... plastic. Szade doesn't use bio materials or anything plant based since they don't want harvest the earth's precious natural resources. Instead, the brand chooses to utilize what's already there, and save it from ending up in landfill for millions of years.

Why China?
This is where the root of the problem is. If you want to break the cycle and make a difference, you have to find the source of the problem and start there.

Why Szade is for real
The brand's factory has been GRS certified. This means the recycling process and material supply chain of all Szades have been audited by the Global Recycling Standard, an independent body that is the world standard for recycled materials.
What about the lenses?
Szade's lenses are not recycled but are crafted of the highest quality tested and rated polycarbonate for the ultimate clarity, structural integrity, robustness, and protection. This is of the utmost importance to provide above all, the clearest and safest possible shatter proof protection for your eyes to meet the highest international standards. Your safety comes first.

Szade's unique recycled sunglasses aren't just a capsule collection or something that comes with a “limited edition” sticker - this process is an essential part of the Szade DNA.
